How DNA Barcoding Helps Identify Fungi

Identification gets difficult fast when fungi look similar. DNA barcoding gives researchers a way to compare genetic markers and improve the accuracy of identification work, especially in groups where visual features alone are not enough. It does not erase the need for morphology, ecology, or taxonomic judgment, but it adds a powerful layer of evidence. Why this matters Modern mycology is increasingly shaped by tools that help reveal relationships hidden from the naked eye. DNA barcoding is one of the clearest examples.
